Childs Foods Limited, with over 50 years of catering, restaurant and bakery experience, offers “off-premise” full-service catering and event planning for groups of 15 to 1500 people and also continues to maintain the reputation of providing top quality products, personalized service, generous portions, and reasonable prices.
The Reputation of Childs Foods and Catering is renowned in Saint John since 1979 and continues to maintain a well respected family business. Childs Foods and Catering remains loyal to its employees, suppliers, and customers.
Childs Foods employs up to 18 staff members and maintains its production kitchen at 1216 Sand Cove Road in Saint John, New Brunswick.
COMPANY HISTORY
In 1896, William Alfred Childs left England after obtaining a Journeyman certificate in Baking. Working his way to Canada on a freighter and landing in Saint John, he eventually managed to open a very successful bakery business. Four generations later, Childs Foods Limited continues the tradition in the food service industry. In 1978, Doug and Betty Childs started Childs Catering in Saint John, New Brunswick. With their combined experience in the hotel industry, food and beverage, and camp management, they began, what would soon become, a successful catering company by providing quality, home-cooked meals and personalized service.
In 1998, Childs Foods expanded the operation into its Wholesale Operation under the ownership of Deborah Childs McCluskey. Childs Foods retails products originated from its catering menu in over 250 grocery stores in Atlantic Canada under the Childs Foods Brand. Products include Potato Croquettes, Homestyle gravies, and Yorkshire puddings.
In 2010, Childs Foods expanded its catering operation to supply food service contracts to institutional and construction camp facilities.
